Designing a web3 app that turns screen time control into a growing digital garden

About the company

Focus Tree is a web3 app built to help people take back control of their screen time. You start with a tiny, humble tree, and every time you focus you lock your phone for a chosen period. When you complete your timer… boom, your tree grows. You can build your own garden with items on the Starknet blockchain, or join gardens created by friends or complete strangers. It's productivity with a bit of magic, community, and collectibles.

What did I do in this project?

We were a small team of seven, and I was the only designer in the room. Since it was a beta version, we lived inside a Discord channel full of real users sharing feedback, bugs, ideas, and occasionally memes. Every day we gathered insights and data, and I also conducted interviews to understand their habits, expectations, and what they dreamed the app could become. I had the chance to talk with people from Ukraine, Germany, Senegal, and Poland, which gave me a rich mix of perspectives.

After collecting all the information, I turned it into reports for the team and used it to shape the complete app flows. I designed everything from core screens to much more complex journeys like sending items between users, creating and editing gardens, setting up wallets, rewards and levels, and the streak system.

I also created a scalable and reusable design system for the entire app, covering light and dark mode from the start.
