About the company
Toteat is a Chilean tech company that builds an all-in-one cloud platform for restaurants and food businesses. Their software centralizes everyday operations in real time, covering inventory and stock management, order taking and KDS, delivery app integrations, QR menus, kiosk authentication, reporting and more. Basically, they give restaurants one place to run the whole show.
What did I do in this project?
My story with Toteat started in November 2021 thanks to a simple LinkedIn message. What began as freelance work quickly became a steady collaboration. Their product was split in two worlds: everything the diner sees, and everything the restaurant owner manages. I started taking on both UX and UI tasks for the diner side, helping shape the mobile and desktop webapp and building the design system that powered the whole experience.
Later, I got to co-create one of my favorite parts of the project: the "Totem". That touchscreen kiosk you see at restaurants to browse the menu and place your order. We had remote working sessions where we solved a bit of everything, from flows to interactions to visual polish. I also worked on key journeys like the QR menu (scan-to-open menus) and the entire delivery ordering flow from restaurant list to checkout.
As the company expanded to other Latin American countries, I jumped into a special project called "Coliseo". The idea was simple but exciting: placing QR codes inside a stadium so people could scan from their seats and get food delivered right to their row. Designing that flow was a fun mix of logistics, speed and user comfort.
By the end of 2023, a new UX designer joined the team and we split responsibilities. She focused on research and wireframes, and I transformed those wireframes into Toteat's visual language.
